To what extent does reading newspapers improve our English ?

Is it important to read English newspapers ?

While preparing for the English exam, our teacher asked us to read the newspaper and translate 

it. Although I didn't find it interesting at first, but I saw a lot of benefits when I read the newspaper 

and translated it. Newspapers cover every topic and consist of the language we use in daily 

life. Sometimes you can even find idioms and proverbs in newspapers.

The benefits of reading a newspaper

1-Vocabulary: You may not know some words when translating sentences in this case you can learn 

the meaning of the word from the meaning of the sentence.

2-Translating: After working hard to translate sentences, your translations will be stronger 

and faster.

3-Writing: Translating sentences improves our grammar, spelling rules, vocabulary and writing 

skills.

Also, it can improve your listening and speaking indirectly but I wanted to write its directly effects.
